Welcome to the ComputerOne blog, we thought we'd kick off this blog with a short message about what a blog actually is, well...it's a sort of, well, rather more like a...nevermind. Have you ever struck one of those situations where you want to find out what something means but haven't been quite worried enough to walk over to your nearest Concise Oxford Dictionary and see what it means?
Well unlike many others, "blog" is a word that probably won't be found be in your trusty ole' dead-trees version published around in the swinging 60's by those old english chaps. In fact for a solution to this problem you may have to go as far as Stanford, and visit our good friends Sergey and Brin who've made quite a nice little application which allows you to pull up a definition of a word without even having to leave your chair.
It is of course Google, and we can find out the definition of "blog" just by typing thus into the available free space in that box just before the button called "search".
So folks, there you have it, a definition of the word blog: "Blog is short for weblog. A weblog is a journal (or newsletter) that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or the Web site."
Well that looks like us, we'll be here with useful information, questions/answers, discussion, tips, tricks and fun new things for the average person amongst us who although confused about all this computer and electronic gear which has seemingly found its way into life, has still managed to retain a degree of faith that it will come in handy...someday that is.
We'll keep this blog as updated as possible with all sorts of interesting stuff as soon as it comes to hand, and since there's no hard copy press, no publishing deadlines and no trees will die as a result of an irresistible urge to publish you may find that some days may be quiet and others will be full of action.
If you have a problem, something that irks you, questions, no matter how embarrassingly simple or earth shatteringly complex they might seem - we're here to help! Just type your message in one of the available boxes and we'll be sure to see what we can do.
